The M.A.R.S.H. Project is proud to be a program of the Carolina Ocean Alliance, a Charleston-based 501(c)3 nonprofit.☺
The Carolina Ocean Alliance began as Sustainable Ocean Alliance - Charleston, a first-of-its-kind community-centric hub for the Sustainable Ocean Alliance.
Now, they are their very own nonprofit! They're still working hand-in-hand with SOA, part of a global family that includes dozens of hubs, entrepreneurs, mentors, and partner organizations—all working together with a shared goal: to protect the ocean and use marine resources sustainably, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14.
Their belief is simple but powerful: local solutions guided by local communities can make a world of difference.
It's all part of a massive grassroots effort worldwide to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental injustice, and the pollution threatening our oceans and waterways. In April of 2023, we became an official program of the Carolina Ocean Alliance.
Our Partners
Wake Refill is Charleston’s Zero Waste Refill Store and they donate 1% of every sale to T.M.P. to help us keep moving! Think of it this way, every time you refill your soap or detergent, you’re also planting some native goodness in Charleston. Hannah Jane sources plant-based, non-toxic products that are all water system safe and cruelty free.(PS: Suárez uses the deodorant she sells and has never smelled better.)
Community Hydrology’s mission is to foster land stewards for water bodies in support of the communities of native plants, insects, birds, and other life forms (like us) that call the Lowcountry home. We’ve partnered with Rebecca Fanning, founder of CH, on a number of events that foster both creativity and environmental stewardship, all while geeking out on our natural systems.
NPTTP is a native plant nursery based in James Island, SC. Run by Sharleen Johnson, NPTTP offers on-site consulting to identify native and invasive species on your property, and to recommend natives that would add habitat value and beauty to your yard. Subscribe to her email list by sending a message to NativePlantsTTP(at)gmail.com for plant sale announcements, availability lists (including species, sizes, and prices), and growing condition tables.
Yaupon Brothers American Tea Co. was founded in part to demonstrate that environmental conservation and economic prosperity can coexist. They celebrate all efforts to increase awareness and education of imperiled natural areas and are donating $1 from every Yaupon Brothers product sold on their website to The M.A.R.S.H. Project when you use the promo code MARSHPROJECT at checkout. This also knocks 10% off your order! ☺
