Marsh Sweep 2022
40 neighbors joined us for South Carolina’s largest one-day volunteer waterway cleanup event.
“Beach Sweep/River Sweep is South Carolina’s largest one-day volunteer waterway cleanup event. Every 3rd Saturday in September since 1988, thousands of South Carolinians clear beaches, rivers, lakes, marshes, and swamps of aquatic debris.
Our stats: 33 Adults, 7 Kids pulled out 80 pounds of trash from the Wagener Terrace/Halsey Creek area! Over 8,000 pounds of trash were diverted from our waterways across the state.
The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium leads the beach cleanup efforts, while SCDNR leads the inland cleanups. The Sweep takes place in conjunction with the International Coastal Cleanup, coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy.”
Special thanks to Graft Wine Shop for letting us post up after the cleanup. Many high fives were shared over wine and beer!
