Backyard Habitat Gardening

We stocked our coolers full of Edmund’s Oast Brewing with insect-y labels.

Silver Hill Studio hosted us for our second Eco-chat with Sharleen Johnson and Al Mason on the importance of planting native species.

Sharleen Johnson of Native Plants to the People and Al Mason of Plant’d spent the night sharing plans for backyard gardens rich in plants that 1. will bring us lots and lots of biodiversity and 2. are native!

They both touched on pollinators of the Lowcountry, why we need them and what the heck we can do to mitigate insect decline. HINT: Plant native. Use zero pesticide and herbicide.
